Social Program - Conference

Sunday 15 July, Opening Reception, 6 pm

The Opening Reception will be held from 6pm-8.30pm on Sunday 15 July at the historic Fremantle Town Hall (1887), within easy walking distance (~200 m) from the Esplanade Hotel (see Fremantle map).

Tuesday 17 July, Prison Tour, 7.30pm

A special candle-light tour of the Old Fremantle Prison, which operated from 1855-1991. A short walk (~500 m) from the Esplanade Hotel. A nearby restaurant has been booked for dinner, commencing at 5.30pm, at a cost of AUD25. Attendance is optional. Conference Organisers will advise details in due course.

Wednesday, 18 July, Conference Tour, 1.00 pm* -9.30 pm

Head for the hills: buses will take us on a short drive (~1 hour) to the Darling Scarp where we will look at some of the history of Western Australia's most important (dilute) solutions: water and will include a cultural talk by Aboriginal Elders. The tour will finish up with a simple meal at a historic house in the Swan Valley. This will be an informal excursion: wear warm clothes and comfortable shoes (for walking).

Thursday, 19 July, Banquet, 7pm- midnight

The Conference banquet will be held in the old part of the Esplanade Hotel. We will meet in the Hotel at 7pm for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles followed by the Banquet. The Conference Banquet must be paid for separately ($95/person). The price includes a full buffet meal (including entrees, seafood, hot main courses, salads, vegetables and desserts) and free drinks (red and white wine, beer and soft drinks) until midnight. Serious drinkers or party-goers can continue after midnight, at their own expense, in the bar of the Esplanade Hotel.
